If you’re visiting the capital, or even if you live in London, it’s always helpful to have a few recommendations for new food spots to try out.

London is a place that just has so much to offer and so much in the way of food choices that it can sometimes be overwhelming. When that happens, we can always use a bit of guidance.

With that in mind, we’ve curated this “favourites” list of what we consider London’s 5 best restaurants that you absolutely have to check out! Read on to see if you discover your new favourite spot.

Duck & Waffle

Duck & Waffle is a really incredible venue, as it is situated 40 floors high at the top of the Heron Tower in the financial district. The restaurant has incredible views out across the city that are truly breathtaking.

Open 24 hours, you are able to enjoy a bite to eat and a drink whenever you fancy, which means you could be having their famous duck and waffle dish for breakfast at sunrise if you felt so inclined.

CHIK’N

If you’re a lover of fried chicken, give the well-known chains a miss and head to CHIK’N instead, where you will definitely not be disappointed by their acclaimed burgers and fried chicken.

It’s fast food casual food, but it doesn’t compromise on quality and tastiness and they serve up happy, healthy chicken with an aim to change fried chicken for good.

The food itself is wonderful, and it’s also nice to know that they take the welfare of the chickens seriously too, thus avoiding any moral dilemmas. Their mission for sustainability doesn’t end there either, as even the oil used for cooking gets converted into bio diesel for the farm. That’s some environmental friendliness!

Farang

If you fancy eating Thai, then we recommend heading to Farang in Highbury. Chef Seb Holmes, previously of Smoking Goat has moved into the heart of Highbury to bring cutting edge Thai food to the area, and the critics are loving it!

The dishes are exquisite and meant to be shared, with dishes such as whole tea smoked duck breast with pak choi and roasted chilli jaew and half spring chicken and minced tiger prawn red curry with sweet basil gracing the menu.

Ikoyi

At Ikoyi they serve up a seriously Instagram-worthy West African fare, that tastes as wonderful as it looks. Everything from the warm and welcoming venue itself, to the incredible flavours they explore with unique ingredients you may not have heard of, is a treat for the senses.

Bella Cosa

Italian food is a firm favourite with all Brits, with at least one Italian restaurant in every town, it seems. But there’s a reason for that, as the simple ingredients and flavours somehow combine to create delicious dishes that we all love.

And at Bella Cosa, you can be sure that you’re in for a treat as fine dining meets casual in a split level restaurant offering two unique environments, whether you want to see your food being cooked in front of your or simply some bar snacks or a quick drink after work.
